The Annual Social Justice Lecture has been an important part of NDSLS' calendar for many years. This year, for the first time, we will be having a panel of pro bono directors and practitioners from a number of different firms discussing our topic - Pro Bono in the Profession.
We'll be discussing the nature of pro bono work, its history and place in the profession, the differences between pro bono practices in mid and top-tier firms and community legal clinics, the opportunities for addressing injustice in the community and ways young students and lawyers can get involved.
We are seeking to challenge, educate and empower the student body to think critically about current issues and recognise their ability to respond to injustice.
If that's not enough to convince you, the evening will begin with some lovely refreshments.
It's an event not to be missed!
