The NDSLS will be making available 5 competitions over the course of semester 1 and 2 in 2017. The competitions give each participant an opportunity to develop their practical legal skills and talents in a supportive and fun environment.
The guide contains and overview of the planned competitions for this year, a detailed look at what each competition involves as well as links to information to assist in prep. We hope this guide is a valuable resource to both beginners and veterans.
The five competitions are an excellent way to develop ones practical legal skills. Each competition is modelled after real life situations and each case draws inspiration from realistic legal issues and concepts. These competitions are made with a focus on research skills, strong oral and written communication, logical and critical thinking as well as creative problem solving.
I hope to see many fresh faces and veterans returning this year. Some of the most rewarding experiences you will have in law school come from these competitions. The rewards of participating in competitions extend beyond applying what you learn in lectures and leave an everlasting impact on your personal legal professional skills.
Good luck for the coming year.
