President’s Welcome

On behalf of the Notre Dame Sydney Law Society (NDSLS), I would like to welcome you to our website!

The NDSLS is one of the youngest law students’ societies in Australia being founded in 2007 by some of the first law students at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Sydney campus. As membership is automatic to all Notre Dame Law students in Sydney, we now represent a diverse and talented group of ~430 students and are the largest and most active student society on campus.

We play an important role for all law students at our university. Our mission – to enrich the student experience – is integral to maximising what students get out of their time at Notre Dame as well as preparing them for post-study life. The culture of the NDSLS is akin to a small community built on excellence, friendship and trust.

We provide a number of careers events and publications throughout the year to provide information on post-study pathways; we regularly meet with the Dean of Law as well as the Special Committee for Law Student Societies to discuss education as well as provide opportunities for maintaining strong mental health and wellbeing; we run a number of competitions throughout the year to give you the opportunity to develop and harness new skills;  we host social events regularly to help students relax and meet other people (Law Ball – don’t miss it!); and social justice remains incredibly important to us and our Annual Social Justice Lecture is becoming increasingly well-known in Sydney.

One of our main channels of communication, is the weekly (subscribe), which is dedicated to keeping all law students (you have to subscribe) up to date with what the NDSLS is doing; we also have a highly active presence on social media as a communication channel, so follow us on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, and Snapchat (@thendsls); and we are always looking to engage with new sponsors to connect our members with the workforce.

Our reputation for excellence is being widely recognised and this means 2017 is shaping up to be an exciting year. The 2017 committee has an abundance of new members with fresh and exciting ideas which will present invaluable opportunities for all our students .

Explore our website, attend our events, read our publications, engage with us on social media, and don’t hesitate to introduce yourself!

Feel free to contact me at any time at president@ndsls.org.

I wish you all the best for 2017.

God bless,

MG Moyo

President 2016/17
